About

Meet Andrew

Born and raised in Wollongong, my photographic journey began in 1987 with a gifted Praktica SLR from my grandfather in London. At fifteen, that camera became an extension of my hand—a constant fixture that friends from my school days in Wollongong still remember today. I still have that camera in my studio; it serves as a reminder that while technology evolves, the fundamental discipline of seeing and storytelling remains the same.

Finding the Human Architecture

For me, photography is an act of discovery and creativity. I am not just looking at an environment or situation; I am searching for the hidden story within it. My work explores the intersection of the environment and the people who inhabit it—capturing honest, unscripted moments of life around me, set against the grit of anything from an industrial wharf or the rhythm of the sea.

Through 35+ years behind the lens, I’ve learned to find the "quiet" in the chaos. My path has taken me through high-pressure worlds—from the raw energy of weddings, international sports and live performance to the surgical precision of medical, scientific, and industrial imaging. Those experiences taught me how to strip away the noise and reveal the "human architecture"—the lines, textures, and emotions that turn a situation into a feeling.

Built to be Passed Down

I understand that the most valuable things are those that endure. I don’t believe in mass production artworks.

To ensure absolute visual purity, I keep the front presentation of my individual art pieces completely clean. This allows the raw tonal depth and rich texture of the archival print entirely alone, free from visual distraction.

Instead, the artwork's identity and authentication live on the reverse. I personally hand-sign and date every single work directly onto a premium, museum-grade label, permanently affixed to the back of the 3mm archival core.

This reverse signature serves as your official artist provenance record. It documents the specifications, the precise location, and includes a secure QR code that links you directly to the hidden story behind the lens. It is my personal guarantee that the work on your wall is a fully authenticated artisan artifact built to last for generations.

I believe in the longevity of the physical art piece and the authenticity of the image.

Every image in this gallery is a custom-made artifact, created and captured through my vision and built to the same exacting standards I’ve maintained throughout my professional career. There is a certain satisfaction knowing that your images adorn spaces locally and across the globe and bring with it a little piece of my vision and soul.

  • The Print: Museum-grade archival pigments on heavy-weight cotton rag, chosen for its tactile depth and ultimate longevity.
  • The Finishes: Hand-selected, sustainable Australian timbers, metals and glass that feel as raw and real as the coast itself.

Captured with intent. Finished by hand. Driven by a legacy behind the lens.
